Age:

The program welcomes children from approximately 15 months, once they can walk with stability, up to around 2.5 or 3 years of age, depending on their readiness to move to the Children’s House.

The program:

In the earliest years, your child is building the foundations of who they will become. In the Toddler Community, children discover independence, perseverance, empathy, and self-confidence within a warm and respectful environment. Guided by caring adults and supported by a mixed-age group, they experience the joy of belonging to their first community beyond the family—where trust, respect, and a love of learning grow naturally every day.

Includes organic snack or fresh fruit during the morning and the organic lunch is served at 12:00. From 13:00 to 16:00 we offer Montessori activities or a space to rest, depending on the child’s needs.

Learning areas:

  • The Psycho-Sensory-Motor area offers activities from simple puzzles to sewing and gluing, helping children develop control over their bodies—especially their hands, one of the most extraordinary tools of being human.

  • The Practical Life area engages children in everyday tasks like sweeping, snack preparation, plant care, dishwashing, window cleaning, and flower arranging. Our environment is designed to nurture their natural drive for independence in personal care and daily activities.

  • Language: this area features objects and picture cards from the child’s immediate and wider environment, along with a selection of beautiful books. Language comes alive daily through songs, poems, and stories, guided by the children’s interests. It also includes painting, chalk, crayon, and clay work, as well as an introduction to music.

A day in the Toddler Community

Each morning, the children arrive at school full of curiosity. They change their shoes, hang up their bag and jacket, it’s their first chance of the day to practice independence, and we don’t let it slip by. Then, they are free to choose an activity that sparks their interest. They move at their own rhythm, taking materials from the shelves and carefully putting them back once they finish. Meanwhile, the Montessori guide offers individual presentations, gently observing and guiding each child’s unique process.

Our environment is designed to be sensorially rich and inviting, so that every detail encourages exploration and joyful learning. You might see one child working on a puzzle, another washing cloths, watering plants, reading a book, listening to music, cleaning shoes, or learning how to zip up a jacket. These small, everyday actions nurture big skills: confidence, concentration, and independence.

Around 10:30, we gather in a circle to sing songs, share stories, and talk about our day. It’s a warm moment of connection that nourishes language, communication, and belonging. Before heading outside, the children once again practice putting on their shoes and jackets. In the outdoor space, they run, climb, slide, and play together — enjoying the freedom of movement.

By 11:45, it’s time to come back in, wash hands, and prepare the table for lunch. We love this time together. The children serve themselves and eat peacefully, there’s no rush, only the simple joy of sharing a meal and being together.

After lunch, we clear the table and change our clothes, getting ready either to go home or to rest. Those who stay for nap time sleep peacefully in a calm and cozy environment. When they wake up, we enjoy a small afternoon snack together and then head outside once more to play in the garden. It’s a gentle and joyful way to end the day, until 16:00, when it’s time to say goodbye.
